Meta and Tesla earnings, an Nvidia keynote and U.S. economic readings will fill the Oct. 19-23 calendar as Federal Reserve officials remain in the quiet period before the Oct. 28 meeting.

Nasdaq fell more than 4% last week as markets absorbed firm inflation data and reconsidered the economy's resilience. With Fed officials remaining in the premeeting quiet period, corporate results and economic releases are the scheduled updates ahead of the meeting.

Nvidia's GTC Berlin conference starts Tuesday, Oct. 20, and runs through Thursday, Oct. 22. The company's CEO is scheduled to give a keynote Wednesday, Oct. 21. After the U.S. market closes that day, Meta, Tesla's Oct. 21 earnings report, IBM and Lam Research are scheduled to report results. U.S. crude inventory readings for the week ended Oct. 16 are also due Wednesday. With four companies scheduled to report after the close, Wednesday is the week's busiest listed day for earnings.

Thursday, Oct. 22, brings initial U.S. jobless claims for the week ended Oct. 17. Nokia is scheduled to report before the market opens, while Western Digital and MaxLinear are due after the close. The claims release falls between Wednesday's earnings slate and Friday's business and consumer readings.

On Friday, Oct. 23, S&P Global is scheduled to publish preliminary October U.S. manufacturing and services purchasing managers' indexes (PMIs). The University of Michigan's final October consumer sentiment reading and final one-year inflation expectations are also due. The PMI figures will be preliminary, while the Michigan readings will be final. Together, the releases cover business activity, consumer sentiment and inflation expectations in the final days before the Fed meeting.

Japan's September consumer price data are due Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET (23:30 UTC); preliminary October composite, manufacturing and services PMIs follow at 8:30 p.m. ET (00:30 UTC Friday). The figures arrive ahead of the Bank of Japan's Oct. 30 decision. The U.S. Federal Reserve meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28.
