Xanadu Gets Provisional Approval for Up to $10 Million in DARPA Funding
A proposed one-year extension would support the Canadian company’s quantum research while it remains in Stage B of a U.S. benchmarking program.

Xanadu Quantum Technologies Limited has received provisional approval for up to $10 million in additional U.S. defense funding for a proposed one-year extension of its quantum computing research.
The Canadian company expects to put most of the funding toward research and development over the next 12 months and provide regular progress reports to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Provisional approval does not guarantee payment of the full $10 million.
Xanadu trades on Nasdaq and the Toronto Stock Exchange under XNDU. It entered Stage B of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative in November 2025 and remains in that stage.
The program is assessing whether quantum computers can reach utility-scale operation by 2033, when their practical computing benefits would exceed their costs. DARPA moved four other companies into Stage C on Oct. 7. That stage tests whether proposed systems can be built and operated as designed.
Xanadu must successfully complete its Stage B evaluation before it can be invited to Stage C.
