Gaming Venture Deals Reach $13.7 Billion as AI Firms Land Large Rounds
Game-content startups raised $270.7 million in the third quarter, their lowest quarterly total since the fourth quarter of 2017.

Gaming-related venture deals reached $13.7 billion across 430 transactions through the third quarter of 2026, as large rounds for AI companies contrasted with a decline in funding for game-content startups.
Early-stage venture deals accounted for 54.5% of third-quarter deal value, up from 14.1% in the first quarter. Venture growth-stage deal value fell to $269.4 million in the third quarter from $2.3 billion in the second.
Game-content startups raised $270.7 million in the third quarter. That was their lowest quarterly funding total since the fourth quarter of 2017.
Among the largest gaming-related rounds, California-based Meshy raised $400 million for its AI tools that generate 3D models. Higgsfield, also based in California, raised $400 million and develops AI video tools. China-based Shengshu Technology raised $500 million; it develops world models and operates an AI video generation platform.
The figures cover gaming-related venture investment across the first three quarters of 2026, while the deal-stage and game-content comparisons describe the third quarter alone. The large AI rounds sit alongside a much smaller quarterly funding total for startups focused on game content.
