The Blockchain for Good Alliance, founded by crypto exchange Bybit, has signed a two-year cybersecurity agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to strengthen digital systems used in development programs.

UNDP’s Alternative Finance Lab will carry out the work with the alliance. The planned training and advice will cover data protection, secure digital payments and the security of public digital services. The alliance will contribute cybersecurity expertise from its network.

The agreement extends an existing partnership on blockchain projects. The alliance is a strategic partner of UNDP’s SDG Blockchain Accelerator, which is entering its third edition. That program connects UN teams working on active programs with technology partners. The alliance also belongs to UNDP’s Blockchain Advisory Group.

UNDP resident representative Edward Vrkić and Blockchain for Good Alliance founder Helen Liu signed the agreement at a summit in Singapore. Liu described the partnership as a way to apply the crypto industry’s experience with digital security to public projects. “This partnership puts what it learned to work for the public good,” Liu said.

The partners plan to deliver the training through the accelerator and UNDP’s Government Blockchain Academy. They also plan sessions for interested UNDP country offices and government counterparts.
