IQ Option’s new Financial Commission membership gives eligible clients an external channel for trading disputes, but complaints involving digital-currency markets are excluded from its €20,000-per-client Compensation Fund.

The membership took effect Sept. 30. The commission handles disputes involving forex, contracts for difference (CFDs) and cryptocurrency markets. Access to that complaint process does not mean every type of complaint qualifies for a fund payout: its rules exclude complaints involving digital-currency markets.

The €20,000 figure is a ceiling for an eligible client, not automatic reimbursement. The fund can pay only after the commission issues a judgment and the member refuses to comply or leaves before paying. It does not cover losses from a client’s own trading decisions or insure a broker’s entire client base if the broker becomes insolvent.

Clients generally must first seek a resolution through the member’s internal complaint process. The commission will not handle complaints brought more than 45 days after a dispute arose.

A separate audit on Oct. 14 examined 5,000 IQ Option order executions. The sample met the execution-quality standards used for the audit. That result does not change the complaint process or the fund’s exclusion for digital-currency-market claims.

IQ Option’s regulatory information is not directed at U.S. residents.
