Mastercard Announces Fraud Screening Before Stablecoin Payments Move On-Chain
Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first named partners, with North America planned as the initial market and worldwide availability expected in 2027.

Mastercard announced a service that assigns risk scores to stablecoin payments before they reach a blockchain, giving financial institutions a way to screen transfers before funds move.
Mastercard unveiled Stablecoin Security on Oct. 19 at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas. The service combines payment intelligence and blockchain analytics to identify signals tied to fraud, scams, sanctions exposure and other financial crime over a payment’s life cycle. Its risk score is delivered through a platform-agnostic application programming interface (API).
Financial institutions can connect the API to existing fraud, compliance and case-management systems. Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first partners named for the service.
Mastercard plans to introduce it first in North America, with commercial availability worldwide expected in 2027. The company also plans to expand the service through BVNK that year.
Complex transaction paths are common in stablecoin activity. Nearly 60% of more than 593 million stablecoin transfer events across 141 million Ethereum transactions in 2025 occurred within multistep transactions. The figure counts transfer events, not distinct payments.
