In Q2 2026, venture investment in crypto and blockchain companies rose 31% from the previous quarter to $5.683 billion, with later-stage firms capturing most of the capital.

Later-stage companies received 78.3% of the funding. The number of deals increased 10% to 384, and pre-seed and seed rounds accounted for 39.8% of those transactions. Younger companies remained active, but the dollars were concentrated among businesses further along in their development.

U.S.-headquartered companies attracted 73.5% of the capital across 39.1% of the deals. Their share of investment dollars was substantially larger than their share of transactions.

Trading, exchange, investing and lending businesses drew about $3.523 billion, the largest total among the categories tracked. That made businesses tied to market activity the quarter’s leading recipients of venture capital.

Fundraising for new venture funds presented a different picture. Investors committed roughly $3.9 billion to five new crypto venture funds during Q2. The number of new funds was the lowest recorded in a quarter since 2019, even as investment in companies increased.

A separate count of September Web3 financing recorded 48 rounds, but only 39 disclosed an amount. Those 39 rounds raised a combined $1.05 billion. Over the preceding 12 months, the monthly averages were $2.01 billion in funding and nearly 67 rounds. September was below both averages.
