Morgan Stanley Projects Nearly $600 Billion in AI Hyperscaler Cash Use by 2027
The figure is a forecast of cash consumption by AI hyperscalers, not a tally of cash already used.

Morgan Stanley projects that AI hyperscalers will consume nearly $600 billion in cash by 2027, putting a figure on expected cash use by the group as AI computing investment grows.
The nearly $600 billion figure is a forecast, not cash already spent. It applies to AI hyperscalers rather than the entire AI industry.
Morgan Stanley has separately projected that global AI computing investment by hyperscalers and neocloud companies will reach $1.583 trillion in 2027. That estimate includes $1.388 trillion in cash capital spending and $195 billion in lease investment. The bank’s investment projection also puts the total at $978 billion in 2026 and $1.812 trillion in 2028.
The two 2027 figures describe different measures and groups: projected cash consumption by AI hyperscalers and projected AI computing investment by hyperscalers and neocloud companies. They are not directly comparable.
