Maersk Unit, Hateco Study Vietnam Rail Projects With Up to $3.5B
The study covers a freight terminal in Hai Phong and three additional sites in northern Vietnam. The investment figure is a preliminary estimate across the proposed projects.

APM Terminals and Hateco Group will study a rail freight network in northern Vietnam, with preliminary total investment across the proposed projects estimated at up to about $3.5 billion.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on Oct. 20. The estimate covers the proposed projects together and does not represent a committed investment.
The study includes a freight terminal in Hai Phong with cargo-handling and storage facilities, plus three other rail freight sites. The proposed network would connect industrial parks and manufacturing areas with logistics centers and seaports.
APM Terminals, part of Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Hateco Group opened a deep-water container terminal in Hai Phong in 2025.
