Bitget plans to acquire a Thai-licensed digital asset exchange through BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd., a company in which it holds an interest.

GMO Internet Inc. and GMO-Z.com Holdings (Thailand) Co. Ltd. plan to transfer 7,349,446 shares in Bangkok-based GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd. or its designee. The combined stake represents 99.94% of the target. GMO Internet’s board approved the proposal Sept. 24. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

BTGT is a company in which Bitget holds an interest. The target holds Thai licenses for digital asset exchange and brokerage services. Bitget plans to make its trading platform available to Thai users through the local exchange after the purchase closes and regulatory approval is secured.

GMO Internet decided in March 2026 to leave Thailand’s digital asset business, weighing a sale of the subsidiary against shutting it down. The Thai unit recorded a net loss of 87.6 million baht in 2025, compared with nearly 100 million baht in 2024.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said building a presence requires “local expertise, an understanding of the regulatory environment and a long-term commitment to the market.”

GMO Internet expects the share transfer on Oct. 31, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
