Mastercard Unveils Fraud and Sanctions Screening for Stablecoins
The service is designed to screen payments before funds move on-chain. Nearly 60% of stablecoin transfer events examined in 2025 involved multiple steps.

Mastercard is introducing Stablecoin Security to help financial institutions screen stablecoin payments for fraud, scams and sanctions exposure before funds move on-chain, extending its payment risk tools to digital assets.
Mastercard announced the service at a Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas.
The service combines payment and blockchain insights to give institutions a clearer view of risk. The service screens stablecoin payments for fraud, scams and sanctions exposure before funds move on-chain.
Nearly 60% of 593 million stablecoin transfer events across 141 million Ethereum transactions in 2025 involved multiple steps rather than a direct transfer between two parties. Those payment paths make it harder to assess risk across the full transaction.
That advance review is intended to help financial institutions stop problematic transfers before they reach the blockchain.
