Bitget plans to make a trading platform available to Thai users through BTGT Management (Thailand) Ltd.’s proposed acquisition, although its current terms bar residents of Thailand from using its existing services.

The terms list Thailand and the United States as prohibited countries. They define residents of those countries as restricted persons and require users not to be restricted persons. The restriction applies to Bitget’s existing platform as it pursues a separate route into the Thai market.

The proposed purchase of the Thai exchange operator would transfer 7,349,446 shares in GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to BTGT Management or its designee. GMO Internet, Inc. and GMO-Z.com Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd. hold the combined 99.94% stake. Bitget holds an interest in BTGT Management, which is the proposed buyer.

The target operates Z.COMEX, a licensed Thai digital asset exchange and broker. Thai providers need the appropriate digital asset license to offer trading services to residents.

Bitget plans to introduce its trading platform to Thai users through a locally operated exchange after the purchase closes and regulators approve the change in control. Its current terms continue to govern access to its existing services. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen described developing “the right operational foundation” as a priority.

GMO Internet decided in March to leave its Thai digital asset business, considering either a sale or a shutdown. Its board approved the proposed share transfer Sept. 24. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

GMO Internet expects the share transfer on Oct. 31, 2026, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
