GE Aerospace expects its GE9X engine program to create a roughly $300 million year-over-year profit headwind in 2027 as shipments to Boeing rise, even though costs per engine are expected to fall.

The company expects the additional shipments to widen the program’s losses. The $300 million estimate measures the change in GE9X’s profit impact from 2026, rather than its total projected loss for 2027.

The projection follows GE’s third-quarter results and 2026 guidance increase. The company raised its 2026 adjusted earnings forecast to $8.00 to $8.10 per share from $7.65 to $7.85. It also lifted its adjusted revenue growth outlook to 19% to 20% from a high-teens forecast.

GE now expects 2026 non-GAAP operating profit of $10.9 billion to $11.0 billion and free cash flow of $9.1 billion to $9.4 billion. In the third quarter, adjusted earnings reached $2.25 per share, adjusted revenue rose 18% to $13.285 billion, and orders climbed 49% to $19 billion.

For 2027, GE projects low-double-digit growth in commercial services revenue. Its commercial services backlog exceeds $170 billion.
