SpaceX Aims to Rent Out About Half Its AI Computing Capacity
The company plans to bring a 440,000-computer Nvidia Vera Rubin training cluster online by June 30, 2027.

SpaceX aims to rent roughly half its artificial intelligence computing capacity to outside customers while keeping the rest for internal use, CEO Elon Musk said, outlining a commercial role for its expanding infrastructure.
The division is a target, not a fixed allocation. SpaceX expects to adjust it as demand changes and favors short-term rentals at prevailing market prices over long-term contracts. That approach would let the company revisit how much capacity it offers customers as its own computing needs change.
Musk expects demand for AI computing power to remain strong as more capable models make each unit of electricity more productive. He said power, cooling and supporting infrastructure have become greater obstacles to expanding capacity than obtaining chips.
The plans were discussed during SpaceX’s third-quarter earnings call. SpaceX intends to bring a training cluster of 440,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin computers online by June 30, 2027, to strengthen its Grok AI model.
