Andreessen Horowitz Tops AI Venture Ranking With 22,509 Points
The top 10 firms earned 60% of the top 100’s points, and investments made in 2023 or later generated 80%.

Andreessen Horowitz topped the 2026 Strebulaev-Jackson AI Venture Ranking with 22,509 points for investments in U.S.-headquartered AI companies. Lightspeed Venture Partners placed second with 14,422 points, followed by Menlo Ventures with 13,464. The ranking was publicly released Oct. 20 and measures qualifying investments through Aug. 31, 2026.
The scores were concentrated among a small group of firms. The top three earned 29% of the points awarded to the top 100, while the top 10 earned 60%. Investments made in 2023 or later generated 80% of the points across the top 100.
The ranking focuses on venture firms’ investments in U.S.-headquartered AI companies rather than serving as a general venture capital leaderboard. Secondary transactions were excluded. The authors reviewed 2,254 companies and classified 706 as AI companies.
The model uses six factors: company valuation, dilution, net profit, value added, human-capital decay and how credit is divided between firms and individual investors. Its scores are ranking points, not dollar amounts invested or fund returns.
AI made up 64% of Andreessen Horowitz’s score in the broader venture ranking. For Sequoia, which placed fourth on the AI list with 10,855 points, AI accounted for 39% of its broader score.
Much of the value reflected in the ranking remains unrealized because many of the AI companies are still private.
