Variational Details Pro Plan to Automate Institutional OTC Derivatives
The planned platform would cover options, interest-rate and foreign-exchange derivatives, and structured products, with settlement through smart contracts and stablecoins.

Variational plans to use Variational Pro to automate institutional over-the-counter derivatives trading, a market that often relies on manual negotiations and settlement. Founder and CEO Lucas Schuermann outlined a planned scope that includes options, interest-rate and foreign-exchange derivatives, and structured products.
The platform would let institutions request prices from multiple dealers and choose a quote. After a trade is agreed, counterparties would deposit collateral into a separate smart contract. The system is designed to monitor margin, handle liquidation and settle trades using stablecoins.
Those steps are intended to streamline work that can involve calling dealer desks, negotiating prices, exchanging contracts and managing collateral and counterparty exposure. Variational Pro has not launched.
Variational already operates Variational Omni, which supports perpetual contracts and swaps. The company is working with institutional partners and expects larger clients to join Pro. Some planned Pro instruments, including options, may eventually be offered to retail traders through Omni.
