Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ delivery lead times for low-capacity, high-capacity and automotive multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) reached 52 weeks in October as AI server demand added pressure to supplies.

Lead times for all three categories exceeded 30 weeks in September. At 52 weeks, some customers face a wait of about a year between placing an order and receiving the components.

The longer waits extend beyond Samsung Electro-Mechanics. Yageo’s main MLCC products have delivery windows of 30 to 52 weeks, while lead times at NIC Components and Viking have also increased. Delays that affected high-capacity products now reach lower-capacity and automotive parts.

AI servers are one source of demand. They can use more than 10 times as many MLCCs as conventional servers.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ component division reached 91% capacity utilization in the first half of 2026. The company is expanding production in the Philippines, with the added capacity expected to reach mass production after 2027.
