Meritz Securities and The Optimism Foundation signed an MOU to study how OP Mainnet and other OP Stack networks could support tokenized financial assets, including their issuance, settlement and distribution. The work will examine the use of a public Layer 2 network as infrastructure for those activities.

The announcement describes a study, not a product launch. Its joint infrastructure review covers tokenized financial assets generally.

Separately, Meritz will assess whether it can help supply and distribute tokenized financial products backed by South Korean assets. Any participation would be subject to applicable laws and the limits of the firm’s securities license.

KB Securities and DB Securities have also explored tokenization on OP Stack networks. Meritz separately agreed to study tokenization of South Korean assets with the Canton Foundation. Meritz will review the detailed scope of its cooperation with The Optimism Foundation in light of South Korea’s security-token rules and market conditions.
