Intel Targets First Ohio Fab Operations for 2030 or 2031
The first fab was originally expected to start delivering chips in 2025. Intel plans to complete it in 2030, with a second fab planned for completion in 2031.

Intel installed its first major structural truss at its New Albany, Ohio, chip plant Wednesday, advancing a project whose first fab is targeted to begin operations in 2030 or 2031.
The schedule marks a shift from the original plan. When Intel announced the Ohio project in 2022, it expected the factory to start delivering chips in 2025. The company now plans to complete construction of the first fab in 2030, with a second fab at the site planned for completion in 2031. New Albany is northeast of Columbus.
The Ohio build is part of Intel’s effort to expand its foundry business, which makes chips for outside customers. By late 2025, Intel was producing 18A chips at high volume at an Arizona fab, but has yet to secure a major external customer for them. The company is using the chips to make its own processors for devices.
Intel expects operations at its next Arizona fab to begin by the end of 2028. The first Ohio fab’s operations are targeted for 2030 or 2031.
