Netflix Schedules Two Global Theatrical Film Releases for 2027
Both films are slated to reach Netflix after their cinema openings, as the company lowers its 2026 advertising revenue forecast to about $2.7 billion.

Netflix will bring two films to theaters worldwide in 2027 before adding them to its streaming service, a schedule that places cinema runs alongside its push to accelerate viewing-hour growth.
Director Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is scheduled for IMAX previews Feb. 10 and a global theatrical opening Feb. 12, 2027. Its Netflix debut is set for April 2, 49 days after the theatrical opening.
The animated Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory is scheduled for a wide global theatrical release Nov. 5, 2027, followed by its Netflix debut Dec. 22. That puts its streaming date 47 days after the cinema opening. Both films are set to reach Netflix within seven weeks of their global theatrical releases.
Netflix is aiming to accelerate viewing-hour growth. Revenue for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, rose 11.8% year over year to $12.874 billion. Revenue growth was 17.2% in the year-earlier quarter, a decline of 5.4 percentage points in the growth rate.
Netflix acknowledged investor concern about viewing hours: “We know there’s some investor concern about our view hours growth.” Streaming TV, film and live events account for the vast majority of the company’s spending and nearly all its revenue.
Netflix lowered its 2026 advertising revenue forecast to about $2.7 billion from about $3 billion. The revised outlook follows a slightly slower-than-expected rollout of some ad product capabilities. The change updates Netflix’s ad-growth outlook; the new forecast is $300 million, or 10%, below the earlier estimate.
The first scheduled global theatrical opening is Narnia on Feb. 12, 2027, with IMAX previews beginning two days earlier.
