Automattic Says It Is Staggering Organizational Changes
Spokesperson Chenda Ngak said the phased approach is intended to make severance more generous and give each employee more time.

Automattic is staggering organizational changes to provide more generous severance and give affected staff more time, spokesperson Chenda Ngak said, describing the company’s approach to workforce changes. “We’re staggering our organizational changes to be more generous with severance and allow more time with each Automattician,” Ngak said.
Automattic lists 1,397 staff.
The workforce changes follow a board dispute in September. The board voted to place CEO Matt Mullenweg on paid leave and appoint CFO Mark Davies interim CEO. Mullenweg later returned after a 33-hour, 20-minute absence. Davies and chief legal officer Andy Missan have also left the company.
