Super Micro Computer (SMCI) raised its fiscal 2027 first-quarter revenue and gross-margin forecasts for the quarter ended Sept. 30, with the stronger outlook lifting its shares in after-hours trading.

The company now expects revenue of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, up from its previous range of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. Gross margin is forecast at 12% to 12.5%, compared with 10.4% to 10.8% previously. Super Micro attributed the expected margin improvement to customer and product mix.

Using the midpoints of each revenue and margin range, the revised outlook implies about $2.33 billion in gross profit, compared with $1.59 billion under the previous forecast. Those amounts are calculations from forecasts, not reported profit.

At 7:59 p.m. ET (23:59 UTC) on Oct. 20, SMCI shares were quoted at $37.52 after regular trading closed at $32.47. The quoted after-hours move was 15.54%.

Rosenblatt Securities raised its 12-month target for SMCI to $57 from $51 while maintaining a Buy rating after the outlook update.

The preliminary update is unaudited. Super Micro has scheduled its full quarterly report for Nov. 3, which will provide more detail on profitability, receivables, inventory and operating cash flow.
