CEO Haviv Ilan expects robotics activity to ramp in 2027, but TI has not estimated how many humanoid robots will be built.

Texas Instruments sees $500 to $1,000 worth of its chips in each humanoid robot, CEO Haviv Ilan said Oct. 21, giving investors a measure of TI’s potential chip opportunity per robot.

The estimate is the potential value of TI components in one robot. It is not the robot’s selling price or a projection of TI revenue. The eventual sales opportunity depends on how many humanoids are produced and how much TI content each one uses.

Ilan expects a significant increase in robotics activity in 2027 and said customers want to expand. TI has not estimated how many humanoid robots will be built next year.

TI’s portfolio includes power components, motor-control components, sensing products and real-time processors. For robot joints, TI has a motor-control reference design rated at 48 volts and 1 kilowatt. It also has a six-axis control design for a humanoid hand.

In March, TI announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to pair TI radar with the Jetson Thor platform for responsive 3D perception and safety functions.
