Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL) has approved its $4.2 billion Permian Link project, a natural gas pipeline designed to supply fuel for new power generation serving a hyperscaler. Kinder Morgan’s share of the project cost is about $1.6 billion.

Permian Link is designed to transport about 2.8 billion cubic feet of gas per day. The plan includes approximately 434 miles of new pipeline, along with compression equipment, metering and interconnect facilities.

Long-term transportation agreements with take-or-pay terms support the project. The customer is described as an A-rated hyperscaler, and the gas is intended for new power generation.

NGPL expects the pipeline to enter service in the third quarter of 2030, provided required permits and approvals arrive on time. The project’s announced capacity is about 2.8 billion cubic feet per day.

Kinder Morgan’s expansion project backlog totaled $14.4 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2026. Natural gas projects accounted for $13.2 billion of that total. Separately, more than 75% of the overall backlog was associated with power generation and local distribution company demand.
