Muehlbauer Group CEO Josef Markus Mühlbauer said QuantumScape’s Eagle Line pilot demonstrated that its solid-state battery technology can scale, backing a planned 100-megawatt-hour production line targeted for 2028.

“The Eagle Line proved to us that QuantumScape’s solid-state technology is ready to scale to the next level,” Mühlbauer said.

Muehlbauer evaluated the Eagle Line’s pilot processes and developed design enhancements. It will supply cell-assembly equipment for the planned line, while engineering for higher-throughput processes and equipment is underway. The facility is planned as QuantumScape’s first commercial-scale cell production line.

The line is intended to serve markets including AI data centers, aerospace and defense. Customer engagement across many newer markets remains at an early stage, and interest may not lead to development agreements, purchase commitments or revenue.

The production plan accompanied QuantumScape’s third-quarter results. Net loss narrowed to $84.5 million from $105.8 million a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA loss was $60.7 million compared with $61.4 million. The company kept its 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss guidance at $250 million to $275 million.

QuantumScape introduced PowerBlock, an in-rack energy-storage design for AI data centers, on Oct. 8. The design uses QSE-5 cells and still needs integration with rack-level power electronics and battery-management systems for data-center use. Its performance figures are based on prototype tests and modeled configurations, with final results dependent on product design, system configuration and real-world conditions. Cell production at the new line is targeted to start in 2028.
