KKR has agreed to acquire HOERBIGER’s Explosion Protection and Static Control segments, which make up most of the Swiss industrial group’s Safety Business Unit. The transaction is targeted to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The businesses are IEP Technologies and Newson Gale. IEP Technologies provides engineered systems designed to prevent or mitigate explosions involving combustible dust, vapors and sparks. Newson Gale provides static grounding and bonding solutions intended to help prevent electrostatic ignition.

HOERBIGER will retain its Engine & Generators segment, which makes explosion relief valves for engines and generators. The company plans to integrate that business into its Compression Division, keeping it within HOERBIGER after the sale.

After closing, KKR plans to support a broad-based employee ownership program for workers at IEP Technologies and Newson Gale. The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

HOERBIGER’s broader Safety Business Unit recorded €126.3 million in sales in 2025, up 4%. That figure includes the Engine & Generators segment, which is not part of the sale. Standalone sales for IEP Technologies and Newson Gale were not disclosed, so the unit-wide total does not represent sales for the businesses KKR is acquiring.
