Procter & Gamble Sales Rise 4% as Fabric and Home Care Volume Grows
Fabric and home care volume advanced 4.3%, while total volume rose 2.4%. P&G also raised its fiscal 2027 all-in sales outlook after acquiring Thorne.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) posted 4% sales growth in its fiscal first quarter as fabric and home care volume climbed 4.3%, lifting total company volume growth to 2.4%. The results covered the three months ended Sept. 30.
Adjusted earnings per share were $2, above the $1.88 analyst estimate. Net sales reached $23.3 billion, exceeding the $22.8 billion estimate. P&G shares gained more than 5% in morning trading Thursday.
Fabric and home care, which includes Tide and Febreze, led the company’s businesses. Growth in laundry products and fabric enhancers supported the segment’s 4.3% volume increase. Baby, feminine and family care, along with beauty, each recorded volume growth above 2%. Grooming volume slipped 0.4%, while health care volume declined 2.9% as demand weakened for oral care and personal health products.
The increase marked a stronger volume quarter after P&G recorded volume growth in only one quarter of fiscal 2026. Consumer spending patterns remained divided: people with higher incomes were moving toward premium items, including a $30 shampoo, while shoppers with lower incomes were working to keep brands such as Tide and Pampers within budget. P&G used promotions, new pack sizes and product innovation to appeal to shoppers across income levels.
Chief Financial Officer Andre Schulten described competition as intense during the earnings call. Executives also pointed to Pampers Amore and Pantene’s Abundant & Strong hair care line as products that helped grow market share in their categories.
Organic sales increased 4%, excluding the effects of foreign exchange and acquisitions or divestitures. Volume contributed 2.4%, pricing added 0.4% and product mix added 1.1%.
P&G kept its fiscal 2027 core earnings per share forecast at $6.89 to $7.11 and raised its all-in sales growth outlook to 2% to 4%, from 1% to 3%. The revised sales range reflects its acquisition of supplement brand Thorne, which closed Oct. 1. The full results and fiscal outlook include the company’s quarterly figures and guidance.
