Metso Q3 Orders Climb 28% as Sales Reach €1.373 Billion
Sales rose 3% for the quarter, while earnings per share from continuing operations fell to €0.15 from €0.17 a year earlier.

Metso Corporation's order intake rose faster than sales in the third quarter of 2026, expanding its backlog even as earnings per share from continuing operations fell from a year earlier.
Orders received totaled €1.614 billion for the three months ended Sept. 30, up 28% year over year. The backlog reached €3.883 billion, a 20% increase from a year earlier. Sales were €1.373 billion, compared with €1.328 billion in the third quarter of 2025; Metso reported the increase as 3%.
Minerals orders rose 34%, and equipment orders within the business increased 79%. The quarter's intake included a €90 million copper-related order. Aftermarket sales grew 10% to €778 million and accounted for 57% of group sales.
Adjusted EBITA increased 4% to €230 million, with a 16.8% margin. Operating profit moved in the opposite direction, declining to €197 million from €205 million a year earlier.
Earnings per share from continuing operations were €0.15, down from €0.17 in the year-earlier quarter. Total basic and diluted earnings per share were both €0.16, including €0.01 per share from discontinued operations. The continuing-operations figure excludes that amount, while total earnings per share includes it.
President and CEO Sami Takaluoma described the quarter as marked by “strong order momentum.” Metso expects market activity for both Minerals and Aggregates to remain at current levels over the next six months.
