Nirva has raised $25 million in pre-Series A financing, bringing total funding to $33 million as it prepares to open orders for its first AI wearable in November.

The company raised $8 million earlier this year from investors including Lightspeed and South Park Commons. Its first device is a pendant that can also be worn as a bracelet. It weighs about eight grams and is designed to run for up to three days on a charge.

Nirva plans to offer the $249 device in four finishes: silver, brushed silver, black and gold. Nirva aims to ship it to early users by the end of the year.

During setup, users record voice samples that the device uses to build a model of their speech. It is designed to screen out conversations and other information picked up from people nearby. Audio and transcripts are deleted by default after processing.

The companion app turns users’ speech into personal insights, including patterns related to emotions and communication style. It can also surface reminders and action items.
