About four in 10 U.S. adults ate at a restaurant at least weekly in July, below the shares recorded in 2022 and 2019. The survey covered responses collected July 1-19, 2026.

Weekly restaurant dining registered 39%, compared with 47% in 2022 and 53% in 2019. One in five respondents said they ate at restaurants only a few times a year or less, double the 2019 share. Four percent said they never ate out.

Weekly takeout ordering was 31%, the same level as in 2018 and below the 39% recorded in 2021. The takeout figure tracks ordering frequency, while the dining figures measure how often adults ate at a restaurant.
