J.P. Morgan has initiated a $100 million real-world asset (RWA) investment on Solana, adding activity on another blockchain to its work with a dollar-deposit token on Ethereum.

The Solana investment is distinct from JPM Coin (JPMD), which represents U.S. dollar deposits at the bank. J.P. Morgan opened JPMD to institutional clients on Ethereum Oct. 19. Clients can send the token directly to one another using Ethereum-compatible wallets, as described in the bank’s Ethereum launch for institutional clients.

Solana’s on-chain RWA value reached $4.3 billion from about $700 million over a year. In the same comparison, Ethereum’s total increased from $15.5 billion to $16.6 billion, while Solana’s value rose to about 26% of Ethereum’s total from 4.5%. The yearlong rise in Solana’s RWA value is a networkwide measure, separate from J.P. Morgan’s $100 million investment.
