PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe said Thursday that the company may sell or spin off its natural gas business after California lawmakers finished their session without approving wildfire legislation PG&E had sought.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a PG&E subsidiary, serves more than 16 million people with gas and electricity in Northern and Central California. Poppe has previously called for a durable wildfire liability framework that “delivers for customers and investors”.
