Amazon’s Oct. 20 Youth Promise sets a 2030 target of creating 30,000 new entry-level jobs across the United Kingdom.

The program also offers job training to people who are not in education, employment or training. Starting pay is about $41,500.

Amazon joins Microsoft, Cisco and IBM among employers that have pledged to create more jobs for young people through the UK government’s Youth Guarantee, an initiative encouraging employers to help address youth unemployment.

Amazon cut about 30,000 corporate jobs over the past year as it restructured its business and focused more on AI.

UK Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden said the program reflects employer involvement in reaching young people. “This is exactly the kind of employer leadership that will reach young people in the communities that need it the most,” he said. Amazon set 2030 as the deadline for its hiring target.
