Meta has acquired AI analytics startup Sundial, bringing its data analysis platform and staff into the company, with co-founder Chandra Narayanan named to lead Meta's analytics tooling and agents work.

Sundial co-founder Julie Zhuo announced the acquisition Oct. 23. Zhuo and Narayanan are joining Meta alongside team members Stanley Watt, Asa Levi and John Maier. Meta Chief Data Officer Alex Schultz said Narayanan will lead the company's data analytics tooling and agents work.

“AI has created effectively unlimited demand for insights, and we want to define the future of AI analytics,” Schultz said.

Sundial's platform lets users ask questions about company data in natural language and analyze information stored in a company data warehouse. The software combines a way to query company data with tools for analyzing the information held there.

Schultz's analytics group covers analysis, experimentation, alerting and monitoring. Meta named Schultz its first chief data officer on July 1, 2026. The role focused on changing how the company learns and makes decisions using AI.

Sundial had raised $23 million in total, including a $16 million Series A led by GPV partner DJ Patil. Meta has not disclosed financial terms for the acquisition.
