General Motors is prioritizing sustained annualized GMNA EBIT-adjusted margins of 8% to 10% as its U.S. vehicle market share declined during the first nine months of 2026.

GM sold 2 million vehicles in the United States in that period and held 16.4% of the market, down 0.7 percentage points from the same period in 2025. The company’s third-quarter results included $50.015 billion in revenue, $3.335 billion in net income attributable to stockholders and $4.106 billion in EBIT-adjusted.

GM forecast full-year 2026 EBIT-adjusted of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion and net income attributable to stockholders of $8.9 billion to $9.5 billion. Tariff and policy changes, supply-chain availability and broader economic conditions could affect profitability.

“Looking ahead, our top priority is earning 8.0-10.0% annualized EBIT-adjusted margins in GMNA on a sustained basis,” GM said.
