Mastercard was listed as a partner of XRPL Commons’ New York hackathon, which was planned as a 36-hour event for Oct. 24–25; the company separately plans stablecoin settlement support on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

XRPL Commons announced the event as the “XRPL AI & Fintech Hackathon NYC.” It was announced with more than $40,000 in prizes across four tracks: Agentic Finance, Lending & Borrowing, Protocol Innovation and Why Not.

Mastercard announced June 3 that it plans to support settlement using regulated stablecoins, including Ripple USD (RLUSD), across supported networks that include XRPL. The company said further expansion was planned through 2026.

Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard executive vice president of Blockchain & Digital Assets, said, “The next phase of stablecoin adoption is about real-world utility, especially in settlement, where timing and liquidity matter most.”

In November 2025, Ripple announced that Mastercard, WebBank and Gemini would explore using RLUSD on XRPL to settle fiat card transactions. Initial RLUSD onboarding was subject to regulatory approvals.
