S&P Global Completes OpenZeppelin Deal to Add Onchain Security
OpenZeppelin's open-source tools will remain publicly maintained, with audits and development continuing under its brand.

S&P Global has completed its acquisition of OpenZeppelin, bringing smart-contract security capabilities into the financial information company's digital-asset risk business. The deal adds a blockchain security operation to S&P Global's work in digital-asset risk management.
The transaction was first announced in September. OpenZeppelin's open-source tools will remain publicly maintained, and security audits and development will continue under the OpenZeppelin name. The company has a decade-long history of securing onchain finance, with work focused on blockchain infrastructure.
S&P Global brings financial-market data and research capabilities to the combined business. The acquisition pairs those services with OpenZeppelin's security expertise, adding smart-contract security to S&P Global's digital-asset activities.
The OpenZeppelin brand will continue for audits and development, while its open-source tools remain accessible to developers. These arrangements preserve the project's public tools and ongoing security work after the change in ownership.
