Anthropic Outlines Data Center Lease Strategy in IPO Filing

The leased equipment will support dedicated data centers operated for Anthropic by specialized contractors, alongside its existing cloud agreements.

The company outlined the lease and its broader infrastructure strategy in its preliminary IPO filing on Oct. 26.

The lease is tied to Broadcom. Payments are due quarterly and typically begin when equipment is ready for service. The agreement cannot be canceled during its term except in the case of default.

Anthropic calls the added source of computing “Anthropic Direct.” Third-party partners will procure the real estate, power and facilities, while Anthropic leases the capacity and contracts with specialized operators to manage the sites.

The dedicated facilities will complement cloud agreements with Amazon, Google and Microsoft. Some of Anthropic’s cloud providers also have investment or customer relationships with the company and compete with it in artificial intelligence.

The filing does not provide a combined total for future computing and infrastructure commitments. It also warns that chip supply, power availability, permitting, construction and other supply-chain constraints could delay expansion or increase costs.

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, Anthropic recorded $8.945 billion in computing and infrastructure expenses and $16.286 billion in revenue.
