ConocoPhillips plans to reduce its Canadian workforce Tuesday, marking a second consecutive year of planned cuts in the country, though the company has not disclosed how many positions will be affected.

The reduction, scheduled for Oct. 27, includes employees and contractors. The company has not specified which operations or job categories are affected. A ConocoPhillips spokesperson said, “We routinely review our organization to align with our long-term strategy, operate safely and efficiently, and remain well-positioned for future opportunities.”

At year-end 2025, Canada accounted for 8% of ConocoPhillips’ approximately 9,900 employees across 14 countries. Those employee figures do not provide a count of Canadian contractors.

The company also planned Canadian workforce reductions in November 2025. Notifications for Calgary employees were scheduled for Nov. 5, while notices at the Surmont operations in Alberta and Montney operations in British Columbia were set for Nov. 6. No affected-worker count was disclosed for that round.
