Shinhan Financial Group expects its buybacks scheduled through year-end to total KRW 1.6 trillion, up 28% year over year, as it funds its Lotte Non-Life Insurance acquisition with capital held within the group.

The board approved KRW 450 billion in repurchases. Of that amount, KRW 200 billion is scheduled by the end of 2026, and KRW 250 billion is scheduled for January 2027.

The acquisition is expected to reduce the group's common equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio by about 19 basis points. Shinhan Financial Group plans to fund the consideration by reallocating capital it already holds within the group, without raising external capital.
