Mochatrade secured $5.56 million through two funding rounds to expand an India-focused platform where users can deposit rupees and trade contracts tied to U.S. stock prices.

The total includes a $690,000 pre-seed round backed by Y Combinator and Pioneer Fund, followed by a $4.87 million seed round led by CoinFund. Coinbase Ventures and Nicky Montana, a general partner at Zero Knowledge Ventures, also participated in the seed round. Mochatrade raised the seed funding through SAFE agreements and did not disclose a valuation.

Y Combinator’s $500,000 investment was made entirely in USDC and settled on Coinbase’s Base network in early October.

Users can deposit Indian rupees through UPI and withdraw funds to local bank accounts. Mochatrade offers perpetual contracts tied to more than 50 U.S. stocks, including NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Meta and Google. These contracts track prices without transferring shares. The platform also lists contracts tied to SPY, crude oil, gold, silver, Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and Solana (SOL) in a shared margin account.

The contracts have no expiration date, settle around the clock and offer leverage of up to 50 times. Mochatrade structures them as crypto derivatives rather than traditional securities.

ALSD Technologies Private Limited, Mochatrade’s India operator, is registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) under the country’s anti-money-laundering framework. The registration is separate from authorization to conduct securities business.

Mochatrade plans to put the funding toward its trading engine and risk controls and expand its reach among active traders. The company earns revenue from trading fees and is developing U.S. stock options and social trading features, which remain subject to regulatory and approval requirements.
