Samsung Reports Q3 Profit Miss, Announces 30 Trillion Won Dividend
Revenue reached 195.3 trillion won, and the chip division generated nearly all of operating profit.

Samsung Electronics reported third-quarter net income of 75.2 trillion won, below an 83.6 trillion won market estimate, while announcing a 30 trillion won dividend for shareholders.
Samsung recorded revenue of 195.3 trillion won and operating profit of 107.4 trillion won. Its chip division produced 106.5 trillion won in operating profit, nearly matching the companywide total. The display business earned 1.1 trillion won, while the mobile division posted a 600 billion won operating loss. Revenue was slightly above the preliminary figure the company released earlier.
The dividend is 4,601 won per share. Samsung expects memory-chip demand to expand in the fourth quarter. Foundry revenue rose sharply, and the company expects it to increase by double digits in the same period.
Management also warned that chip supply shortages could deepen next year. The split leaves semiconductor operations at the center of the earnings outlook, while the dividend adds a sizable return for shareholders.
