Moody’s Ratings assigned Ripple USD (RLUSD) an A2 long-term rating and a P-1 short-term rating, giving the stablecoin credit assessments for both longer- and shorter-term periods.

Jack McDonald, Ripple’s senior vice president of stablecoins, posted the ratings at 9:10 p.m. ET Oct. 27 (01:10 UTC). McDonald wrote, “RLUSD is the first stablecoin to have ever received an investment-grade Moody’s rating.”

The ratings apply to RLUSD, which Standard Custody & Trust Company issues on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.

Ripple outlined the roles for its proposed national trust bank in an announcement Monday, Oct. 26. The bank would oversee segregated RLUSD reserves, serve as collateral trustee for holders and provide fiduciary digital-asset custody. Ripple said Standard Custody & Trust would remain the issuer, leaving token issuance with the trust company while the proposed bank handles those reserve and custody functions.
