Sprouts Farmers Market expects comparable sales to decline 1.7% in 2026 and plans a nationwide pricing reset in January as it works to rebuild traffic. The affordability strategy comes as the grocer faces falling traffic, units and shopping frequency, particularly at core stores.

Management expects fourth-quarter gross margin deleverage and lower EBIT. Sprouts plans the nationwide pricing reset for January. Over time, Sprouts aims to rebuild traffic while keeping EBIT margins above 5%.

The company’s sales pressures include a cyclospora disruption, higher shrink and increased fuel costs. It has also faced intensified competition and consumers shifting toward value channels. Management said declines in traffic, units and purchase frequency have been especially persistent in core stores.

Sprouts plans to continue expanding while balancing new-store openings with investment in existing locations. Management views new stores as high-return, and store growth remains part of its plan even as it reduces its sales outlook.

CEO Jack Sinclair said, “We recognize that our recent performance needs to improve.” Sinclair plans to transition to executive chairman. He said, “I feel very good about entrusting Sprouts’ next chapter to Nick.” The nationwide pricing reset is planned for January.
