eBay forecast fourth-quarter gross merchandise volume of $23.7 billion to $24.1 billion after GMV rose 13% in the third quarter, offering a fresh measure of activity on its marketplace.

The outlook comes as eBay pursues a previously announced plan to reduce its global workforce by about 9%. The company announced the plan Oct. 20 and set a target to complete the cuts by the end of the first quarter of 2027, as detailed in its global workforce plan.

eBay had about 12,300 employees worldwide at the end of 2025, including about 7,200 in the United States. The company’s target for completing the planned reduction is the end of the first quarter of 2027.
