台達電 (2308) is negotiating product price increases with major customers as raw-material costs rise, while the company says power and labor shortages are slowing AI data-center construction.

Chairman 鄭平 said at an investor meeting that the talks could be finalized as early as the fourth quarter of 2026 or the first quarter of 2027.

台達電 estimates cloud service providers will spend a combined $1.2 trillion to $1.5 trillion on capital expenditures in 2027. The company said that investment is supporting demand for high-power systems and liquid-cooling equipment used in AI data centers.

The company described limited electricity supplies as a worsening obstacle to data-center construction worldwide. Operators are seeking independent power sources, including military-grade generators and solid-oxide fuel cells from Bloom Energy, 台達電 said. It also identified improved power-generation efficiency as part of addressing the electricity constraint.

A shortage of skilled workers is another bottleneck. 台達電 said high-voltage direct-current electricians are scarce, and the training and practical experience needed for professional credentials can take about 8,000 hours, or four to five years. The company said workforce development is lagging the pace of construction.
