Microsoft plans to raise at least $25 billion through a U.S. bond sale, adding to large technology-company borrowing as investment in artificial intelligence increases financing needs.

The planned sale is divided into 10 tranches, with maturities ranging from two to 40 years. Preliminary pricing guidance for the longest tranche, due in 2066, sets its spread at up to 1.35 percentage points above U.S. Treasury yields. Wells Fargo, JPMorgan and UBS will manage the offering.

The proceeds are intended for general corporate purposes, including capital expenditures. The offering would be Microsoft's first high-grade bond sale since 2017, when it raised $17 billion through seven tranches.
