Deepgram to Acquire Daily as Pipecat Remains Open Source
Daily makes and maintains Pipecat, a framework for real-time voice and video AI; the companies did not disclose a purchase price.

Deepgram said Thursday, Oct. 29, that it plans to acquire Daily, bringing the maker and maintainer of Pipecat into the company’s voice AI infrastructure operations. The companies did not disclose a purchase price and said Pipecat will remain open source.
Pipecat manages voice and video streams alongside pipeline components such as speech-to-text, large language models and text-to-speech. The framework is designed to help reduce delays in real-time AI systems. Daily also provides hosted infrastructure for voice and video calls.
Deepgram CEO Scott Stephenson said, “We want to open up the ecosystem so everybody can build voice agents.”
Deepgram is also launching the Real-Time Context Standard, an open protocol developed with the Pipecat team. It defines metadata for audio context, instructions telling language models how to use that context, and guidance for how spoken responses should sound.
