Oak Hill Capital has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Wyyerd Group Holdings LLC from Carlyle, changing the ownership of a fiber broadband provider serving Arizona and Southern California. Carlyle will retain a minority interest, but the companies have not disclosed the transaction value or the percentage Oak Hill will acquire.

Wyyerd provides fiber connectivity to residential and business customers in the two states. The parties expect the transaction to close in January 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. They have not identified which approvals remain or disclosed other financial terms.

Carlyle has held a majority stake in Wyyerd since 2021. During that period, Wyyerd’s network expanded more than 20-fold. Wyyerd launched in 2017 and expanded through acquisitions, network investment and operational development during Carlyle’s ownership.

Oak Hill’s broader fiber-to-the-premises portfolio includes nine platforms across 37 states. Its networks pass about 7 million locations, and the portfolio is building more than 1 million new locations annually. Those figures describe Oak Hill’s wider holdings, not Wyyerd alone. Oak Hill plans to support further network expansion at Wyyerd.

Separately, the European Commission received notice June 12, 2026, of a proposed joint-control transaction involving Oak Hill, Carlyle and Wyyerd. The commission decided July 6 not to oppose that proposal. The October deal announcement also makes regulatory approvals a condition of closing but does not identify which approvals remain.

Wyyerd CEO Justin Freesmeier said, “We are excited to partner with Oak Hill as we enter Wyyerd's next phase of growth.”
