Intuit Offers Five $225 Accounting Projects to U.S. College Students

Intuit is offering five remote, paid accounting projects to U.S. college students through its Fall 2026 Accounting Futures program. The assignments are modeled on entry-level accounting work. The fall project window opened Oct. 1, and completed work is due Dec. 11. Each project takes about 15 hours.
The assignments cover financial-health reviews, accounts payable, accounts receivable, chart-of-accounts cleanup and month-end transaction reviews. Students use QuickBooks Online and submit a short slide pack for a client or manager, a source sheet and an AI disclosure form. The program’s partner pays students $225 within two weeks of successful completion. Accounting firm owners helped design the assignments, but Intuit offers the fall projects directly; firms do not host them for actual clients.
Accounting Futures is free. Applicants must be at least 18, enrolled at a U.S. higher-education institution, and hold both a QuickBooks Level 1 Certification and Client Advisory Services Foundations Badge. An educator must also earn an Accounting Futures Educator Badge to unlock access for students. The program includes lessons on AI for accounting, communication and interpreting financial reports. The Client Advisory Services curriculum teaches students to interpret business finances, anticipate needs and support owners’ decisions. Intuit announced an expansion of Accounting Futures on Aug. 26 as a program combining accounting coursework, credentials and access to industry advisors.
In a May 2026 survey of 725 U.S. accounting and bookkeeping professionals, 38% of respondents named strategic judgment their firm’s top hiring priority, compared with 22% who named AI fluency. Fifty-six percent said a new entry-level hire would take six or more months to become fully productive. Another 31% expected entry-level skills to shift toward technology, data and client-facing work.
At Intuit Connect, held Oct. 26-28, David Zasada, Intuit’s vice president of education and corporate engagement, said, “AI may be taking some of the tasks that are more repetitive.”
The Spring 2027 window opens Jan. 18, with deliverables due May 7. Intuit plans to add projects involving actual clients in spring 2027.
